The water is no longer as clear as it used to be – the spring thaws give it a drab colour. On the heights, for two years now, the areas of the glacier exposed to the north melt before your eyes.Last December, one of our friends went off with his sledge and his dogs onto the pack ice. On his way back, the ice was moving with the waves, and started to break up. He only just managed to reach land, and got a terrible fright.
