September 2009
My company of taxi functions primarily with the buildings.
There are of course tourists, but their number fell. The
international crisis is there certainly for something. With
the cost of the flight and the prices charged here, we do
not form part of the cheap destinations. In spite of that,
Isfjord d' Ilulissat attracts many people and made our city,
the first tourist destination of the country. Isfjord moved
back these ten last years indeed much. Seen from here, one
can note a production of ice which does not cease
increasing. It is false to say that the situation is
normal. Except for rare years, like this winter 2009, the
state of our ice-barrier is alarming. It is of nothing a
cyclic phenomenon. The summer which is completed was one of
driest than we never knew. For the first time, we had
prohibitions to make fire in the district of Ilulissat.
The
evolution is too important. It is enough to look at and to
be honest, our winters resemble of nothing the winters past.
I had dogs, but the rare moments, where it was possible for
me to move me on the ice-barrier, did not justify any more
but I keep them. I could not any more nourish them. Many
people downtown were in the same case as me. We helped each
other of course mutually, but the demand in seals and fish
was too important. The fisheries were to us at this moment
of a great utility. And when two years ago of that, she
moved to go to settle on another village, of the six
thousand dogs which the city counted, the half had to be
shot down. |
