The route 2009
-
After 1103 km, realized in 43 stages,
knowing that for more than a month, we slowed down the
rhythm of our progress, considering our comfortable
advance. We are arrived as expected our destination, the city
of Ilulissat in the bay of Disko, on Saturday,
September 5th, at about 5 pm. Kayaks were tidied up at
once in a container looking forward to the next trip. We
go past our last moments on Ilulissat, to tidy up
correctly all our equipment, and to share
moments with Greenlander's family, which we met recently
on a bivouac. Our arrival is planned on September 12th on Monaco. Thanks to all and to all, to
have followed our program during these three months. The
web site will be updated with new photos, as well as
with all the récueillis testimonies during this
route.

Against ice and
tides
- After seen of the window weather,
even if the sky is gray and that there are some bits of
snow while our business is prepared, we embark rather
late in the course of the day, in direction of
Aappilatoq, a village to 22 km in north east of
Upernavik. The sea is calm, gentle breeze of wind in the
back invites us to put our veils. The relief falls
abrupt into the sea. There is even a very beautiful
mountain, with a splendid cliff, some more or less large
icebergs, along our way. One goes along a coast of hills
of rocks falling into water. One benefits from it to
make photographs. Water is a mirror. The sun was
released from its clouds. Lighting is splendid, just
like the landscape, unreal, not a noise, some birds.
With far, one sees mointagnes still quite snow- overed.
To arrive in front of the village of Aappilatoq, we
should cross the field of icebergs. Here, impossible to
accost, there are blocks of rocks. Greenlandic indicates
a place more adapted to us to plant a tent, a little
with the variation of the village. He benefits from it
to make us photographs. He is almost midnight, and the
sun is still high. Landscape in front of us: icebergs in
front of us, the sky which cover. Unreal colors.
